In November, the weather in Cuenca, Ecuador, is relatively cool. Daily high temperatures usually hover around 15°C, rarely dropping below 13°C or exceeding 17°C. Daily low temperatures are around 9°C, rarely dropping below 7°C or exceeding 11°C.

On the route, the weather and temperature can vary greatly depending on the altitude of each location. There will be a lot of altitude difference on the route. Areas with a lot of humidity and a lot of heat that at peak hours can rise from 25 to 28 °C. 
At high altitudes during the night it can even drop to 2 °C.

 

Most of the route will be below 2500 meters with pases over 3500 meters for short periods

 

We will have stages of trekking, mountain biking, packrafting, and ropes. Most of the route will use trails and secondary roads.

 

There will be stages where you need to carry your packraft equipment while trekking, so it is important to have a good backpack to transport it. More information on distances will be provided later.

 

Huairasinchi does not have packrafts available for rent; each team must manage this equipment. In Ecuador, we have two contacts who sell packrafts:

The Four Points by Sheraton is the official hotel for ARWC Huairasinchi 2024. It is the first international brand hotel in the city of Cuenca.
 
Strategically located 7.5 km from Mariscal Lamar Airport, it offers direct access to the Convention Center and Mall del Río, the largest shopping center in the city. It is just a few minutes from the main commercial, tourist, and industrial areas of the Athens of Ecuador. It is 5 minutes from the Turi viewpoint, where you can have a unique view of the city, and only 10 minutes from the Historic Center of Cuenca, where you can visit the city’s emblematic sites.

Team registration, equipment check, and supply box reception will take place at the La Gloria Sports Complex.

The La Gloria Sports Complex in Cuenca is a modern sports facility that opened to the public in May 2022. This complex was built to provide a quality space for practicing various sports disciplines and recreational activities.

Each team must have at least:

  • 2 valid first aid certificates.
  • 2 valid whitewater training certificates (2+ or 3-).

These certificates must be valid for the race dates and not issued more than two years ago.
